Who is the better team Boise or Ohio State? And why is Boise ranked higher but in a non BCS game?

Boss Hog asked:

This year Boise went undefeated(12-0) and is playing in the Poinsettia Bowl. Ohio State went 10-2 and made it into the Fiesta Bowl. Did the BCS make a mistake by putting in Ohio State rather than Boise?

Did the BCS make a mistake by putting in Ohio State rather than Boise? I personally think that Ohio State has accomplished anything this year to be ranked tenth in the nation.

  1. It’s all about the money.

Ohio State will get more ratings and that will equal more dollars.

  2. Boise is better.
Ohio State always gets better than they deserve because they are the largest college in America, and they are one of the 4 media darling teams along with USC, Notre Dame, and Michigan.

  3. The first guy is right. The BCS isn’t about who the best team is, it’s about how much $ can it’s Bowl games make.

I truly believe that Boise State would beat Ohio this season. But the idiots at the BCS only want to look at past accomplishments, fan base, and predicted revenue.

    F*ck the BCS

  4. The only goal of the BCS is to get #1 and #2 to play each other for the national championship. After that it’s all about money, and to an extent reputation of teams.

I don’t know if Ohio State is better than Boise State, I haven’t watched either one of them play this year.

  5. Ohio State would dismantle an unproven Boise State team who plays crap teams like Idaho and Wyoming every season. Are you serious?? Ohio State lost 2 games to Top 10 ranked opponents, and their loss to USC was without their star offensive player (Beanie Wells), making them a one-dimensional team. Be serious, Boise State wouldn’t stand a chance against OSU. I’d like OSU to schedule Boise State in the future though, just to see what happens.

  6. First of all Ohio State is better than Boise State and if the BCS was about the money then why would they take those top teams every year and put them in BCS bowl games no matter what. I don’t like the BCS in more than the next person but we are comparing Ohio State to Boise State.

  7. It’s not just about money, it’s about past BCS history. Ok, great Boise State played a great game against Oklahoma 2 years ago. But if you want to include history, you cannot ignore the fact that Ohio State has 4 BCS victories as well.

Also, the way the rules are setup, the BCS is trying to avoid giving out 2 bids to non-BCS conferences and I don’t see the problem with that. Utah earned an automatic bid by being ranked 6th in the BCS standings. So it’s just not feasible to give a 2nd bid to a non-BCS conference team unless there’s no other BCS team eligible.

People are on here saying Boise State is better than OSU simply by looking at their record but what has Boise State done this year that shows they’re a more talented, better coached team than the Buckeyes. Nothing shows it and that’s why OSU gets the Fiesta Bowl ticket.

  8. If Boise State wants to get into a BCS game on a more regular basis they need to get into a conference that has an automatic berth. Those conferences, for better or worse, are considered to be stronger and thus have preference when it comes to BCS bids. There is only one way for them to get a guaranteed bid now and they did not qualify thanks to Utah.

This is just like the UT/OU sitiation, they know the rules and signed on to them.

  9. Ohio State would dismantle an unproven Boise State team who plays crap teams like Idaho and Wyoming every season. Are you serious?? Texas plaing boise state would be a joke…the buckeyes have a great defense and it will be a good game….they also played 6 ranked teams…two of which were in the top 10 and one was top 5 ….hows about boise state a #17 oregon is the hardest team they’ve played this year and a win by 5 points …get real

  10. TT ineligible by rule. Boise may be ineligible by a one non-BCS conf team rule also. Remember they tried to sign with Ball State to play in the Humanitarian Bowl before the season was even over. If Boise is eligible, refer to Boise schedule linked below. Ball State schedule makes the Boise schedule look rugged.

Boise is undef. OSU is undefeated against teams ranked lower than #3 at game time.

If you think OSU played a weak schedule, check out Boise’s=&SPID=4061&SPSID=48555

  11. Boise state didnt play anyone known thats why. Id make a question and give 10 pts for thes 1st person to tell me the name of the teams thay played this year lol.

When Boise state schduels better confrences/teams ex. big 10, pac 10, and hey maybe even the big 12 thats when we find out if they deserve to be in a better bowl game.

  12. Actually, the BCS didn’t choose Ohio State, the Fiesta bowl did. If there’s anyone to blame, it’s the greedy Fiesta bowl representatives. The BCS actually has Boise State ranked higher, But the fiesta bowl doesn’t remember who gave them the greatest Bowl game ever! That’s what I don’t get. does anyone remember the last fiesta bowl? yeah, West Virginia beat Oklahoma. But everybody remembers the Boise State Fiesta Bowl more than any other. So, we’ll just have to see Ohio state get killed by a Texas team that should have gone to the BCS championship game…
